Cavenham Heath is again wonderfully wet after all the rain - which has now stopped, with a rainbow - the River Lark in full spate.
The rookery is beginning to expand out onto the heath from the birch wood.

Here be Stone Curlews, anxious parent Stonechats chatting, contentedly chirruping Woodlark families dustbathing among the incomparable Viper's Buglosses and a COOL breeze. (Eerie quiet in the village on my return at 2140 hrs signaling Croatia's triumph). #CavenhamHeath #MyWalk

The Stone curlews are back! So that's the end of my #Breckland Heath explorations till 1 Nov, though it's still legal until 28 Feb. Sadly, #CavenhamHeath riddled with oblivious dogwalkers today. Even poor Mr & Mrs Stonechat were being disturbed from pillar to post. #MyWalk 1/2

Here in the #Fens The Lark is a different beast from the shy teen of a River back home in the #Brecks #CavenhamHeath, seeming to have really scented the sea & determined to get straight there, hoiked up above the shrunken peat fields between precarious, Reed Runtinged banks. 2/7

#LetNatureSing as the Stone Curlews wake, 40 mins after sunset, flashing their white underwings out there on the heath, while the corvids say their goodnights to each other.
