Damn. Idk how long it takes to get CDCP under normal circumstances, but hopefully you can make it happen really soon. If the cavity is already close to the nerve, its exactly where it needs to be to cause some real problems for you, so speed is of the essence now.

I recently had an emergency appointment to drain a bad abscess, had xrays, cleaning, fillings and an extraction done w/no additional cost under the CDCP. But I was originally referred to a dental surgeon for the extraction & they wanted $194 just for a consultation. CDCP only covers $81 of that.

Dental Update: the price was 4-5x what I was quoted over the phone, and double what I was able to raise (he has to do a root canal). No work done today. But I did find out I should qualify for CDCP, so hopefully the tooth holds on for a couple months so I can get coverage.

If you are in Kingston Ontario call Drs Bains who run Dentistry @ Kingston and Dentistry @ Riverview.
Huge supporters of the national plan.

If you have 💯 coverage through the CDCP there will be ZERO co-pay.

I don't need sedation etc, just a tooth removed. CDCP covers alot more for extractions but who knows how much more they charge. Fortunately my dentist has now agreed to remove it b/c I can't afford the surgeon. I though pulling teeth was the one thing they did when people couldn't afford dental care

I'm on the Canadian Dental Care Plan which is a good start but I need a tooth removed & was referred to a dental surgeon. Just for a consultation to tell me how they will remove it (s/b straightforward) they charge $194. CDCP covers only $81. They wouldn't even give me a ballpark on extraction cost

Thank fuck for the CDCP because what do you mean that cleaning would've otherwise run me almost 650 dollars

Fair point that dental and optical costs are on a more manageable scale, although I still worry about low-income people putting it off and having dental problems accumulate.

Although I guess we now have a program for that: www.canada.ca/en/services/...

Fuck Sun Life for taking the government's money for the CDCP, then rejecting claims for necessary dental work 🤬

3/3 Until an agreement is reached where Ottawa actually hands over the funding and formally withdraws the CDCP from Alberta, eligible Albertans can continue to use the federal plan.

1/3 Can Alberta Actually Block Dentists?

No. Because the CDCP allows dentists to participate on a voluntary, individual basis, the provincial government cannot legally prevent a licensed Alberta dentist from accepting CDCP patients and billing Sun Life directly.

Me: Ah I love the CDCP I love being taken care of without my bank being broken in half

My work, renewing contracts, and now offering insurance too expensive for me to take: **LIKE HELL YOU ARE!!**

That’s just not right! Have you contacted the Canadian Dental Card Plan about this? Tell them about what happened. canada.ca/dental

I am beyond frustrated with people who don't care for their teeth and suddenly think the CDCP (still better to get private dental insurance!) will cover the cost of everything, always, all the time, even crowns (which it doesn't and never will cover).

I wonder if like ppl kinda knew abt this, forever ago, that promising research was being made. And it’s why cdcp existed. Idk.

My spouse & I cross our fingers for this every election. The only way Cdns get nice things is when the NDP has the power to step on the Liberals' necks. CDCP, subsidised daycare, expanded safety nets under Covid (JT made sure not to let it turn into basic income, as expected)--all bc of the NDP.

“I’ve never..seen a time where a direct order from county public health authority or..state office of public health is ignored,” Hickenlooper said. “..they say, ‘No, we’re not required to do that & the (CDCP) is going to be OK w that.’”

What is the remedy? A proposed phone call? Spread of TB?
