The Aesthetic of the Extraordinary...
Ancient Celts believed during #Samhain (October 31 to Nov 1) the boundary between the physical world and the Otherworld grew thin, allowing spirits & ancestors to cross over. Felt that today, in a very thick #fog in a very wild forest.

Happy Halloween to everyone and a joyous Samhain to my fellow celts, pagans and other heathens. Rejoice in the thinning of the veil. Have gay sex.

Pumpkins are native to North America and before they were brought to Europe in the Columbian Exchange, Europeans (mainly Celts) carved turnips and this is what they looked like. You're welcome.

Yep.

Halloween began roughly 2,000 years ago as an ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in) in Ireland, U.K. & northern France. The Celts celebrated their new year on November 1, which marked the end of the harvest & the start of the dark, cold winter.

It's older than Christianity.

Face sitting has been banned in the U.K. The celts should rise up and get rid of the norman usurpers

But on the other hand - celts *originated* in Ireland
And Scotland?

This is Halloween, a holiday with roots that stretch back around 2,000 years.

Its origin is tied to Samhain [SAH-wain], a day when the Celts of Ireland believed the worlds of the living and dead could, well, mingle. 🧵

It was ever thus. Pagan Saxons from Europe were the savages that invaded and decimated Britannia, murdering much of a population of Britons, Celts who had assimilated with the prior pagan European Roman invaders who went Christian during their tenancy. Celts had probably kicked somebody out, too.

I don't think so. I think the majority were practicing Celts. A few were robots at higher levels closer to Cochran.

I feel sad that so many Christians™ seem to have forgotten that it's *us* and jews that are the ancient enemies (satire).

Srsly tho, it's like suggesting that Britons can't coexist with Danes or Celts at this point

Payton Pritchard, Jayson Tatum and Paul George get top billing, but there's also a shoutout to the Celts' three-headed pivot monster. ⬇️

For the Celts in ancient Ireland, Samhain marked the beginning of the dark half of the year. It was an important festive period—a time when people gathered and the "Otherworld" drew especially near. Thoughts of ancestors and spirits were an integral part of this night.
