#KingBugtober Day 23!

I really wanted to draw a bunny girl but I couldn't think of anyone who would make a good subject... So it falls to Gabriela Parker Vasquez, scion of Chicomecoatl and Professional Chef, apparently!

Could be a Halloween costume... That's a good justification, right?

i've lost the favor of Chicōmecōātl, and i'm sick with a really shitty cold for the first time in possibly, literally, 20 years -- or at most it's only the second time.

Cipactli is a primordial 'multi-mouthed' sea serpent/dragon. There's Chicomecoatl whose name means 'Serpent of seven heads". But she's depicted as a luck and harvest diety who brought corn to humanity.

Mexica (Aztec) ceramic effigy burner from Tlahuac (Mexico City). Crafted 1250-1520 CE during the Late Postclassic period, this sculpture represents Chicomecoatl, the goddess of mature maize. The standing figure holds two corn cobs in each hand and wears a large headdress with four rosettes.

Chicomecóatl, the Mexica goddess of maize and fertility, is depicted in this striking effigy brazier. She holds two ears of corn in each hand and wears an elaborate headdress adorned with four paper rosettes. Found in Tláhuac, Mexico City, it dates to the Late Postclassic (1250–1520 CE).

TW: Human sacrifice
I know the beating hearts are the most famous sacrifice among Mexica deities, but a special one for the Corn Gods like Centléotl and Chicomecóatl was decapitating a maiden and burying her under the cornfield. Corn deities are very commonly tied to the idea of death and rebirth.

🙌🏼👍🏼

I'm down for divine invocations! Because potatoes are from Peru, we'd need to call on Axomamma, Inca goddess in charge of them.

But the Aztec goddess of corn, Chicomecoatl ... Now for HER I have prayers prepared. 😉

Storing quite a few things in the frames. And then there was a little statue of Chicomecōātl from the early 1500s. Very useful for gardening. And a couple more unusual paintings. All my money was going to be put toward the second auction.

I heard of some miracle paintbrush or paint pigment.
