This seriously fucks, it made the Chimaerus fight so much cooler than it actually would've been without it

Forever annoyed that Chimaerus is intrinsic to understanding Ula'tek, but his lore is buried under, like, 6 weeks of entirely skippable weeklies.

-While I think Ula'tek "not being a Loa" is a bit funky, I do think that powerful godlike beings being formed off of Azeroth's pain and suffering or her lingering negativity connecting with desperation is an interesting thing. I'd like to see more of things like her and Chimaerus going forward.
October 17, 2026 at 10:48 PM
It's more cause Chimaerus gave one

Kith'ix as a boss is a lot more consequential than Ula'tek and Chimaerus and for some reason it's treated as an optional like Sporefall

It's very odd

Her not being able to talk absolutely took so much away. Like I have no proof, but if she COULD talk I think that would've forced the devs to make her a proper loa.

She's a more refined Chimaerus. He was already the mindless tortured being. Why do it again?
One of the smaller writing missteps that bothered me about Midnight was Ula’tek having no character - you have SUCH a compelling story about how the loa/troll relationship can go wrong, how Ula’tek never had a chance to mature beyond her one purpose and doesn’t understand why she’s imprisoned

Since we're (basically) at the midpoint of the Worldsoul Saga I thought it'd be fun to tier list all the raid fights so far. Based primarily on heroic but I did let some of my mythic opinions slip through.
October 15, 2026 at 7:41 AM
I think one of the reasons why Ula'tek didn't relate with many raiders, including me is the fact that she doesn't talk.
She has a banger ost, and I know SHE IS LITERALLY A MONSTER, not a mortal.
But she is the same "species" as Chimaerus, and he did talk through the fight.

Oh yeah, despite being a worgen / tauren enthusiast mainly, Ji Firepaw has an immensely close spot in my heart.

Ji did nothing wrong and I love him. He's my Lil blorbo besides Voidlight, Azta'rec, and Chimaerus.

If I recall right, there aren't that many creatures from the Rift that talk other than Chimaerus, but even what it says is limited to knowledge of its pain and rage.

That being said tho, it would have been cool to hear her say something, but I think it is on purpose her being more animal like.
September 8, 2026 at 7:50 AM
And yet, the telltale signs of her being one are still there.

Baal the Warlock covered the easy points, I'd have to find them.

It's why Ula'tek could count but Chimaerus doesn't.

One of the things I really dislike about Ula-tek is the fact that she's basically just an animal.

She doesn't speak at all, and that feels weird coming from a being like her. Every other loa speaks. Her children speak. You can't even use the Rift of Aln as an excuse because Chimaerus speaks.
August 27, 2026 at 11:19 PM
My understanding was that she was sort of like Chimaerus, a malformed wild god / loa, born from the Rift of Aln

Not sure exactly Nek'zali knew how to summon it, but I'd surmise that she was somehow already in 'communication' with Ula'tek through the dream / nightmare / spirit world / whatever
August 28, 2026 at 12:00 AM
neat that ula'tek doesn't like. speak or anything, unlike chimaerus. gives the impression that she was yanked out of the rift before she could develop the ability to. makes her feel that much more alien and weird imo

There must have been a whole different Zul'Aman story rewritten at the last second where they didn't have to hide Chimaerus or Ula'tek behind words like "rift monster" and the situation with the Loa at large, among other concepts like Zul'jan and Shadow magic
August 23, 2026 at 4:41 PM
More evidence that the story was rewritten prettt late in tge game

I think them not making a proper name for Aln monsters like Chimaerus is the flaw in this.

She's not a loa so... what is she? There's no name for what she is, so she must stull be a loa.
August 23, 2026 at 2:00 PM
Hard to tell wtf they're cooking with Loa story atp. Ula'tek is supposed to be some kind of animal monster like Chimaerus, but has same traits as Loa & is even referred to as such, briefly

Thought the Loa showing up against Ula'tek was the same ace up their sleeve like Sylv, but that didn't happen

Here's what I don't get: If Ulta'tek's origins lie in the Rift of Aln, why didn't she emerge as a twisted "abomination" like Chimaerus?

Also: If she genuinely predates the other loa (which, we can safely assume, are Azeroth's dreams given form), why did she remain in the Rift?

got that dog in us (chimaerus curve)

I love a weird lil guy. 10/10 would have as a pet. Dreamrift is a one boss raid: Chimaerus.

One of my least favourite things in MMOs is the discrepancy between my percieved performance and my actual performance.

We just completed Mythic Chimaerus and I thought I did pretty good.

Turns out grey parse.

ugh

Last week was a good week, 2 1800s, cutting edge Chimaerus, and Keystone Legend all in one week?! 💪 #ErenjiWoW

First ever Cutting Edge achievement, and third ever Keystone Legend! #ErenjiWoW

(Nathan earned both achievements, but I had to show the mount on Orenhwa because it suits him so well, I knew it was made for him the moment I laid eyes on it.)
