Was also raised Evangelical (naturally) and now consider myself Christian in name only and leaning agnostic. Husband is fully atheist. There's been a LOT of deprogramming happening.

I didn't spend years of my adult life deprogramming the conservative Christian fear mongering over porn/NSFW and demonization of any act of intimacy that isn't for a straight cis couple to reproduce I was bombarded with throughout all of K-12 just to have Puritan shitstains try to bring it back.
I hate posts like this because of several reasons
1. The reply deflecting the idea that the "porn brained" art could ever be drawn by non-cis people because people like this love pretending queer people lack sex drives
2. The blatant anti-sex mindset that reeks of that one Marge image

So Judaism is actually so different from Christianity that most Jews I know have had to do a fair amount of deprogramming from Christian assumptions about religion to understand their own religion

I’m one of these people. I think social media makes it hard to talk about how you’ve changed—you just focus on the immediate conversation.
But I was raised christian nationalist. And while that wasn’t my fault, it was my responsibility. I’m grateful I started deprogramming on my own in 2013.

I wish we could disclaim these bad Christians, but unfortunately they're all to real. Christian supremacist ideology is baked into our society, and for many of us it takes a tremendous amount of deprogramming, education, and practice to recognize and overcome it.

Growing up I was asexual… an effect of deep Christian brainwashing. Thinking back I was ALWAYS into burly beardy dudes, wanting to be close to them. In college I worked on deprogramming, and with access to internet (and ESPN2 strongman shows) I started waking up. Finally figured shit out at 24.
When I was 9, my schoolmates mocked and shamed me for being a sissy. It hurt deeply and left a mark on how I saw myself for years.
