I wish there was an Okdongsik in Jersey City; a small bar where I can just sit and slurp a bowl of Korean gomtang during the coldest of cold days. I don’t mind going to Koreatown in NYC, but I’d rather just bike around my neighborhood to get it. #ciaeatsnyc

This year, I just want to go back to my old New York City spots. Nobu tonight. Everything Nobu started in the 1990s has been copied by every other restaurant. The world would never know about black cod miso or yellowtail with jalapeño without OG Nobu Matsushia.

There’s a Tashkent Supermarket (from Brighton Beach, Brooklyn) on Waverly Place/6th Avenue now in the West Village and the buffet choices will drive you nuts! They have a kazan with Uzbek plov with beef; we gave ourselves geography and history lessons while we enjoyed it. #ciaeatsnyc

The new Babbo with the old classics: Chocolate olive oil cake with olive oil gelato, and the best candied orange peel; I still remember sister pizza restaurant Otto where I first had olive oil cake and it remains as one of my favorite savory desserts. #ciaeatsnyc

The last time I was at Babbo, I still had to call the restaurant to reserve a table. It re-opened this year with Stephen Starr and Mark Ladner in charge of the kitchen. Even though it’s no longer a Batali-Bastianich empire, most of the classics remain on the menu and I’m so glad. 🧵 #ciaeatsnyc

I walked from West 4th subway to an appointment in 96F heat 🥵 and I felt a need for a drink; I stopped by a wine shop to buy a spritz but they don’t sell them individually, so the guy recommended this French wine sold in a colddddd single bottle 🤗 #ciaeatsnyc

The sardines on toast were also great even though the summer squash in between didn’t do much. I wanted to love the uni more because uni… but the custard took away from that ocean taste that makes uni uni.
