DT: "You're fired!"
CIGIE: "No, and that's illegal."
The Inspectors General refuse to leave until the action is taken legally, which they do not believe it was, and neither do senators like Chuck Grassley. This is what not backing down looks like.

Inspectors general are responsible for rooting out fraud and abuse in the government.

A new bill would dissolve the group that oversees inspectors general and give that authority to the White House.

That’s a major threat to transparency.

NEW: We just filed a lawsuit, on behalf of a coalition of nonprofits, asking the court to prevent the Trump administration from unlawfully defunding the work of the CIGIE.

Without inspectors general, waste, fraud and abuse goes unchecked.

Who watches the watchdogs? That would be the role of CIGIE, a body that oversees inspectors general misconduct.

But the fight to fund CIGIE raises concerns around effective oversight and the Trump admin's attack on ethics norms.

We're investigating.

We're suing to challenge the Trump-Vance admin's attempt to defund CIGIE – the council that coordinates across agencies to expose waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.

This is a part of the admin’s larger effort to hide misconduct and avoid accountability. We will see them in court.

But a new bill would abolish CIGIE.

The Trump administration is trying to shut down the inspector general watchdog group (CIGIE).

Luckily 1) CIGIE accepts FOIAs & 2) you can still submit requests during a shutdown.

I just submitted a handful - in large part to ensure CIGIE's records aren't unlawfully destroyed.

You can, too.
