The Cylons attack Los Angeles in GALACTICA 1980. The spaceships and blaster fire were composited over scenes of devastation filmed for 1974’s EARTHQUAKE.

A few months ago this campaign was a long shot.
Now, we're advancing to the general election.
We got here because people across Los Angeles believe in something better: a city where Angelenos can afford to live, work, and build a future.

Hooray, Hollywood's Cineramadome is coming back! Probably my best moviegoing experience there was seeing Terminator 2 opening weekend, in the front row. Not on purpose, we were just super late. But it was incredible. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

They said the Cineramadome will not be a dine-in theater and keep the full theme and name but the Arclight will be an Alamo model.

i went to the bathroom at the cineramadome after seeing inglorious basterds and heard a person in their early 20’s exclaim into the packed bathroom “why didn’t they teach us that in school?” i hope that person is doing better these days

I miss the Cineramadome but I really take the Chinese for granted. Saw Stop Making Sense there and people had a dance party!

I went to the Arclight Hollywood Cineramadome for a 25th anniversary showing of Aliens... the entire crowd went nuts whenever Bill Paxton said anything like it was a football game
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?
Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

I saw an aliens anniversary screening at the cineramadome and everyone went wild anytime he spoke like it was a football game, top tier movie experience

Ben Steinberg "began contacting the theater’s owner for updates, photographing the blighted Dome facade, and speaking to the scant workers at the theater site. It became clear to Steinberg that the #CineramaDome was languishing." mashable.com/article/cine... [h/t @esotouric.bsky.social] #LosAngeles
Hollywood's Cinerama Dome rises from the dead, thanks to one man's online campaign
When an iconic theater closed, Ben Steinberg turned his social media into a pressure campaign. And it may have worked.
