I love being able to get up close with some of the birds at Circle B Bar Reserve, since a lot of them are so used to seeing people. This great egret didn't kind one bit.

Against a cloudless, clear cerulean sky, perched on a pale beige, bare and barkless branch, an osprey in not quite three-quarter profile (two thirds profile?) stares into the distance, out into the right of the frame. The osprey is a big bird of prey with dark brown wings (which are folded, like a cloak); bright white throat, chest, belly, and leg fluff; dark and sharp hooked bill; equally sharp and curved claws; a long white-and-brown striped tail, and a white head with a wide dark brown stripe (the same shade as the wings) across the face and through the bird's golden yellow, intensely focused eye.
