TLDR: I luv my frendz & my creative werk & particularly the intersection between the two
Alrighty…… the 2024 writing stats are in! Thank you to all the writers, editors & other creatives I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with this past year. There’s no money in indie lit & the clout is a myth but there *is* community, & thanks to the community I’ve been blessed with a lot of beautiful opportunities 🥰 There were some choppy seas & sinking ships along the way but I’d particularly like to thank my fellow jesters at @circuslit ~ a troupe of comrades who came together in a chaotic era to create something new that represents the elements of indie lit I love best: accessibility, inclusivity, anarchy & unseriousness. When you make friends in an unhinged literary sphere, you know those friendships are locked in ❤️ Anyway. I’ll probably be submitting slightly less this year to focus on compiling manuscripts: I have two chapbooks on submission & am working on my debut full-length (seeking traditional publication here in Aotearoa) & also my novel which has been in the works for 8 years & is so technically close but spiritually far from being done! I aspire to keep editing because I love it very much, & will hopefully start a freelance editorial service x I will also be starting my own publication for radical writing, getting back into event/music management, & various other little projects! Thanks again to everyone who’s engaged in my work & supported me along the way ~ I love words I love creativity I love community let’s fucking goooooo 🔥
