Energy yes. Brine isn't really an issue assuming decent currents i.e. don't discharge into a bay; I scuba dived for years a few hundred metres from both plants in Malta (Cirkewwa and Ghar Lapsi) and didn't notice any impact on sea life at all.

I love watching movies set on Malta and Gozo, which is a good job really.
I particularly adore the movement between places. Currently watching Made in Malta. The route so far:

Das hab ich auch schon gehört... aber jetzt gibt es halt eine Menge Haltestellen, weil gefühlt jede Straße eine braucht und eine sog. "Express" zwischen Cirkewwa und dem Flughafen natürlich unbedingt auch noch Vallettas Suburbia anfahren muss 😩😩😩
She was scuttled in the early 90s just of the cost of Malta at the Ċirkewwa dive site. The main body of the wreck is between 30-34m depth. Top of the mast around 20m. Conditions were clear with no swell, and it’s a gentle swim out along the reef from the shore about 130m away.

Still on my boat theme... A rainy day at Iċ-Ċirkewwa harbour last winter. If the winds are unfavourable, the ferry can take a longer route passing round the island of Comino which gives some shelter. It is the decision of the Master of the vessel which route to take and whether it is safe to cross.
