Home. In time for my civpro class. And history’s greatest monster, MeanCat, comes off the porch for his patented greet-and-beat.

Home. In time for my CivPro class. I make the best life choices ever….ugh. And ugh.

Done with tonight’s CivPro class. Wow. This is gonna be a tough class. Luckily my study partners are top notch students.

Big Eyes the Punching Assassin does not want me to do my CivPro homework, not while there are worlds to punch.

Funny/sad thing is this CivPro final was the only test I’ve legit studied for. Not crammed. Actually studied for weeks. We shall see. I’ll take what I get & move on to the next semester. CivPro, ConLaw, & Appellate Brief Writing plus work made for anti enjoyable time. Oh well.

Civil Procedure Profs

First (but *not* last) #SCOTUS ruling is in Hain Celestial Group.

Justice Sotomayor writs for a unanimous Court on the effects of jurisdictional defects in "diversity" cases in the lower federal courts:

Reading syllabus for CivPro (civil procedure) course that starts Wednesday, and the final exam will only count as 100% of the final course grade. Whew. I was worried it was gonna count a lot……

I will take my monstrous CivPro final I think Tuesday. And the even-more monstrous take-home essay final for ConLaw is due end of the week. Then I am done for this semester. Staggered certainly but still standing probably.

Welp, I survived the hardest semester of law school. Barely. B minus and two C plus. Terrible but doable. Civpro was insane. I did say in August this semester would be the one to hurt me. Two murder trials plus work plus life plus I’m lazy. But it’s over. And now it gets good.

it was "I am not technically going to make you watch this, but" in 1L civpro

At school, took a diagnostic test as a check to see how I’m doing as it relates to the bar exam: multiple-choice questions (MPE) covering CivPro/Contracts/Crim Law/Con Law/Torts. Not taking bar until Feb 2028, but today I did a bit better than average. Good to know, & now I’ll just keep moving on

Practice midterm exam for CivPro means it’s time to make homemade salsa & then guacamole. From Rick Bayless Mexican Kitchen. Fresh ingredients only. 4 tomatoes, 4 avocado, white onion, cilantro/garlic/lime/salt. Key is to ‘deflame’ onion by rinsing it in strainer after dicing

Finished with last class for civil procedure. Finals for that & Conlaw next week. Final brief submitted for Advanced Brief Writing. So it’s study time. CivPro is insane. This is insane. I am insane. Also MeanCat was staring at me during class. He is not insane. He is insanely scary

Civpro is so boring
JUST IN: Never seen this before — the Justice Department is suing ... the entire federal district court bench in Maryland over its standing order requiring an automatic two-day stay in habeas cases. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

After what was a thoroughly unenjoyable 3 hours of CivPro final exam, I went right away to the kitchen to make saag paneer. Lots of garlic & ginger & onions; with Serrano chili, lots of cilantro with stems, some tomatoes, and frozen spinach. Plus paneer cheese. I nailed this test

Tikka masala with charbroiled marinated tofu. Ungodly delicious. And it takes two hours to make. Lots of moving parts. Was supposed to be studying for Civpro final next week so obviously needed to make the most complicated dish I know. So good, so good.

Apparently portions of it were already taught in at least 1 law school's CivPro class 😂

And one hell of a CivPro professor to me in law school.

Today in Justin Baldoni Teaches CivPro...

Is it bad when counsel for a witness says that the basis for your motion is "purely fabricated and patently false?"

And is it bad to "inadvertently" omit the word "not?"
13/ Except that Greenstein never said that. His lawyer immediately sent an AYFKMRN email calling it "purely fabricated," "patently false," and "perfidy," and demanding a retraction.

This is not just typical lawyer saber-rattling.
