#clean energy transition
Did you know more than 90% of the new energy capacity added to the U.S. grid in recent years has come from clean energy?
Not even Trump can stop the clean energy transition. ⚡️🌱

America needs lithium for electric vehicles. But the clean-energy transition isn’t just about batteries. It’s also about water, drought and who gets to decide what “clean” really means.
The Race for Lithium Is Becoming a Race for Water - Inside Climate News
In the arid American West, expanded mining intensifies battles in vulnerable communities over one of the region’s scarcest resources.

We need to accelerate the transition to clean, reliable, affordable energy, invest in modernizing our electric grid, and build an energy future that protects both our planet and New Yorkers’ pocketbooks.

Minister Tuisawau urges Pacific to accelerate clean energy shift
Fiji is pushing for a Pacific-wide transition to 100 per cent renewable energy, with cleaner transport and stronger regional cooperation needed to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels. Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport Ro Filipe Tuisawau said the transition must address transport emissions, energy security and the environmental risks associated with renewable energy waste. Speaking at the Pre-COP31 ministerial dialogue on a 100 per cent renewable energy future for the Blue Pacific at Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort and Spa in Wailoaloa, Nadi, on Thursday, Ro Filipe said climate action must deliver practical benefits for Pacific communities. “Keeping 1.5 degrees within reach is not an abstract negotiating objective; it concerns the security of our communities, economies and future generations. Adaptation and resilience remain priorities,” he said. He said land transport accounted for about 60 per cent of Fiji’s energy sector emissions and consumed around 60 per cent of imported petroleum. Without stronger intervention, emissions were projected to rise from about 870,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2018 to more than 1.6 million tonnes by 2050. He said Fiji was strengthening coordination across transport, energy, infrastructure, finance and urban development through its electric mobility programme, while...

You often hear that clean energy is not replacing fossil energy, only adding to total energy, and thereby not reducing emissions. ("There is no transition," they say.) It's nonsense. Read this post from @zekehausfather.com about how much FF has been displaced by renewable energy:
What if the world hadn't built wind and solar?
Clean energy does not simply “add to” global energy use; it displaces fossil sources that would otherwise get built.

AI can be run on clean energy, and would be if only the anti-nuclear power activists behind the last generation's anti-science moral panic hadn't gotten their way and killed the transition to nuclear power, but you can't bring back people killed in hurricanes because of insufficient warning.

No.

Keep it going.

Make it worse.

Nothing has been more successful in getting the world to transition to clean energy and transportation.

🚨 Clean energy is about more than generating power. Storage, hydrogen, and grid reliability all matter.

Which area will have the biggest impact on the energy transition?

Latin America holds over half of global lithium (64M tonnes in the Lithium Triangle: Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile). It is a vital resource essential for manufacturing EV batteries and renewable energy storage, driving the global clean energy transition. It’s still mostly in the ground however…..

Fascinating report on how the clean energy transition is accelerating and fossil fuel demand and emissions will be slashed by 2050, but we're currently on track to only reach net zero by the 2090s, meaning temperatures are set to increase by well over 2C. www.businessgreen.com/news/4536880...

DNV forecasts energy-related emissions will fall sharply by mid-century, but a two-paced clean energy transition means global economy remains on track for well over 2C of warming
