🎯 Cross cutting traditional social cleavages (bridging social capital) in service of shared values, which in turn makes the society/community harder to divide and conquer. That’s why.

I think one of the biggest cleavages in our society that no one talks about is the division between those that think powerful people must be held to a higher standard than non-powerful people and those who think powerful people should be flattered and sucked up to.

i think one of the biggest cleavages in politics right now is between people who genuinely like women and want them to do well, and between people who at best view them as a means to an end and at worst view them as a warm hole they get to keep in their house

This is very good. Validates a pet theory that Trump replaced racial cleavages with sexism cleavages for some Black and Latino men. They overlooked his racism because they loved his misogyny.
