Dense smoke from the burning port is currently drifting across the Soykinsky Peninsula and Koporye Bay towards the northeast.

Let us try to zoom out a bit - look at that plume of smoke!

It seems to be a floating jetty that occasionally was positioned a little further to the east, detached from the port itself. It was completely removed sometime between 13 and 15 August 2025.

According to eyewitness accounts, forces affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran set the Rasht bazaar/market on fire. As people were trying to escape from the fire and smoke, they were targeted with gunfire. The fire is visible on S2 L1C & NASA FIRMS. 37.27993, 49.58967.

The weather in Sevastopol today is not ideal for satellite photography, but the fire and the large southbound smoke plume are still decently visible.
