Today, Oct 31, is the earliest date Charlotte has ever recorded snowflakes: a trace in 1887. Banner Elk saw flakes by Oct. 4. Beech Mtn holds the state record for measurable snow on Oct 1st, 2011. The snow actually started late on September 30th that year, and by Oct. 1st morning, 0.5" fell. #cltwx
