Real talk, though: I'd put both Carlene and especially Rosanne Cash into the CMHoF long before JCC as a solo artist.

Why not godspeed, the one Canadian band guaranteed not to turh up for a CMHOF induction?

CMHoF announcement tomorrow.

Preferred inductees, Veteran Era: Maddox Bros & Rose, Linda Ronstadt, Freddy Fender, Wanda Jackson, Crystal Gayle.

Preferred inductees, Modern Era: Dwight Yoakam (though I'm still mad at him), Trisha Yearwood, The Chicks, Clint Black, Pam Tillis.

"“Anything that’s good about me was because of that woman. My mama was the shit, y’all."

- Carlene fucking Carter, introducing her mother June Carter Cash's CMHoF enshrinement.

Next, Freddy Fender and Charley Pride will be banished from the CMHOF as DEI.

Marty's Stuart's artfully disheveled hair at 10A on a Friday is giving me life.

On this day in 1913, Wilfred Gordon Bigelow was born in Brandon, Manitoba.
He served as a surgeon in the Second World War, and then worked at the University of Toronto. He helped develop the first artificial pacemaker and the use of hypothermia in open heart surgery.

Wife & I went to Nashville last summer, had a few hours to kill the day we flew out at the CMHOF, where they'd recently opened their Dolly exhibit. I remember being struck by how diverse the crowd was across age, race, and gender. She really was for everyone.

Miranda? 100% CMHOF career. No question. And I'd say she'll get in relatively early once she's eligible.

Yes, the CMHOF is wonderful as both archives/museum as well, with a focus far beyond inductees.

Afternoon program at the CMHOF, a couple beers at Robert’s, and now a to-go order from Edley’s. Decent Nashville Saturday afternoon.

. . . and while we're at it, Gram Parsons, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle and Doug Sahm. Now, Bruce Springsteen had a tremendous influence on country music, too, but I don't see the CMHoF flexing that much, right?

The rumblings were correct:

Stanley Brothers and Tim McGraw into the CMHoF.

Stanley Bros are a "How were they not already in?" pick, and McGraw deserves the honor, though I'd have put a solid 20 earlier (and better...) artists in ahead of him.
Social media rumblings around Stanley Bros-- deserving, to be sure-- and Tim McGraw-- who'd be skipping the line much like Chesney a year ago.

They're years late to do another multiple inductees per category cycle based on the backlog.

Why isn’t Freddy Fender in the CMHoF?
May 28, 2024 at 5:59 PM
It won’t happen. The CMHoF just doesn’t work like that.
March 13, 2026 at 11:24 PM
Yes, and how about the Allman Brothers Band and the Marshall Tucker Band? The CMHoF may have a hard time with Dylan, though, even though the country acts influenced by him are many.

Charley Pride was born 3/18/1934. He became a country music legend but his first love was baseball. He played in the Negro Leagues.

Fun fact: He and a teammate were traded for a used bus during the 1954 season. He laughed about it in his autobiography. #negroleagues #legend #cmhof
