The anatomical proximity and direct connection between the olfactory bulb and the orbital prefrontal cortex (OFC) make it a key neuroinvasion route for #COVID in the brain. In patients with #NeuroCovid, we observe thrombotic events, hypometabolism and atrophy in this region.

I spent 7 hours driving to and from a 10 minute case management hearing today. Turned out the judge had granted permission for me to attend by video but I was never told. Now we're in the 3rd decade of the 21st century, we should probably have CMHs by video by default.

An annotated version of ASHA’s guidelines: Standard VIII: Maintenance of Certification Certificate holders must demonstrate continued professional development for maintenance of the CCC-SLP. Implementation: Clinicians who hold the CCC-SLP must accumulate and report 30 professional development hours (PDHs) [formerly certification maintenance hours (CMHs)], which is equivalent to 3.0 ASHA continuing education units (CEUs). The PDHs must include a minimum of 1.0 PDH (or 0.1 ASHA CEU) in ethics and 2.0 PDHs (or 0.2 ASHA CEU) in person-centered care and/or professional interactions* cultural competency, cultural humility, culturally responsive practice, or DEl during every 3-year certification maintenance interval. The ethics requirement began with the 2020-2022 maintenance interval, and the person-centered care and/or professional interactions* requirement cultural competency, cultural humility, culturally responsive practice, or DEl requirement began with the 2023-2025 certification maintenance interval. *The term "professional interactions" refers to service delivery as well as to interactions with colleagues, students, audiology externs, clinical fellows, other professionals, and so forth.

On a personal note, if it wasn't for the Welsh Gender Service being set up, I don't know how much longer I might have stayed in the closet. The old system, literally actually called the gatekeeping system meant seeing CMHS to decide whether or not you got a referral. To London.

The UK is a fucking clown country I swear to god. The Welsh Gender Service, which despite its issues (it's still British healthcare after all) has been effectively shut down for not actively mulching trans people and using them to fertilise the kings lawn

Ayer, al final del día, pasó un terapeuta con uno de los chicos TEA con más desafíos de comportamiento en CMHS. Hablamos de su plan diferenciado de aula y decidí cerrar la puerta porque es bastante evasivo.
Y fue impactante escucharlo decir "No quiero Morir"!. Entendí su experiencia del terremoto.😥

I'm incredibly fortunate to have always been able to access therapy when I needed it. And it's always been free through CMHS. It's notoriously difficult to get in unless you're severely mentally ill. And my mental illnesses are fairly severe so I've always been able to get in.
