French coachbuilder Heuliez worked closely with PSA, building models like the Citroën BX estate. This 1987 leaflet with smart liveries promotes its own van version of the latter, known as the BX Service. A van was not, however, sold as part of the BX range in most countries. #carbluesky

Fun fact! The early Rolls were supplied ex-factory as a rolling chassis. RR built the engine, the chassis, and the running gear, the buyer commisioned a coachbuilder to provide a body. Each body was bespoke to the customer's individual requirements. RR started providing standardised bodies in 1949.

My personal fave is this 1925 rolls Royce with 1934 bodywork by a Belgian coachbuilder that includes round doors! The car is now black (with red interior) but i like it in white which i guess it was in the 80s.

Reimagining the Legend: Urban Widetrack Avontur Turns the Defender 110 into an Exclusive Carbon Pickup While the classic Land Rover Defender famously offered a utilitarian pickup variant throughout its multi-decade production run, the modern L663 generation has strictly omitted an open-bed body style from factory showrooms. Filling this void for high-net-worth enthusiasts and collectors, British coachbuilder Urban Automotive unveiled the Urban Widetrack Avontur prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Vintage cars possess a special charm and design. Here is an illustration showing how Duesenbergs and other luxury cars were sold up until the 30s: you would order the mechanical components from the main manufacturer and have the chassis "dressed" by a coachbuilder of your choice.

Angelelli Automobili Project 754: 800 HP Coachbuilt Supercar Reimagines the Porsche 911 Formula Italian coachbuilder Angelelli Automobili has unveiled Project 754, a radical reimagining of the Porsche 911 architecture (spanning the 991 and 992 generations). Rather than delivering a conventional aftermarket bodykit or engine tune, the Rome-based atelier completely dismantles the donor platform to construct a bespoke, handcrafted supercar. Limited strictly to 50 individual units worldwide, Project 754 introduces a choice between two distinct mechanical architectures: the classic rear-engine 754 R and a mid-engine 754 M conversion.

In the late 1960s, Citroën’s design department and coachbuilder Henri Chapron produced a unique presidential DS 21 for the use of President DeGaulle. It was an enormous car, about 6.53 m (21.4 ft) long, deliberately made longer than the limousines then used by the U.S. president.

The Soviet Union's rugged Lada Niva 4X4 was turned into a convertible for the French market. Coachbuilder Lebranchu carried out this Plein Ciel conversion for Lada France in the early '80s. This leaflet perhaps unwisely showed it being driven through salty water. #weirdcarbs
