Today we will look at the 2A classification and particularly the two teams (LCA and Beechwood) we expect to principally vie for the title and why. There are good teams interspaced throughout the classification but the two we have focused on here have all the intangibles, particularly tradition, roster talent, and coaching. We are proud to have eCampus.com on our list of sponsors. These guys have set the industry standard for savings, selection, convenience, and customer service and have committed themselves to helping college students more easily afford to better themselves and develop. Murray High had a tremendous signal caller in 2025 who has moved on to the Murray State Racers and will now play on Saturdays. Still, Melvin Cunningham has built an enviable program while at Murray High and his Tigers figure to be in the title chase again in 2026. Lots of big-bodies on that Tiger roster. Lots of athletes on that Tiger roster. There is even a transfer from Dresden, TN who comes to town well thought of, successful, and much ballyhooed for his prior on-field successes. HIs name should be familiar to you. It is Bruce Willis, the same as the Hollywood "leading man," Bruce Willis. This guy is a load, plays QB, lists MLB as his defensive position (which should tell the reader something of his demeanor and disposition), and is equally dangerous breaking down defenses with his arm or his legs. He ain't going to juke you if you catch our drift. If you are going to tackle him, you better bring along your "Big Boy Britches." Enjoy this look at this week's Bank of Cadiz Featured Player. We are very pleased to welcome Lasaters Coffee & Tea to our growing family of advertisers. The Kelley family has a very long history in the local football industry and several of the Kelleys have had their numbers retired owing to their familial history of playing excellence. Football has been very good to their family and they look for ways to give back to this very special community. Lasaters is a place one goes to get caffeinated and motivated and couldn’t we all use a bit more of that invigoration in our daily routines. Get by one (1) of our four (4) Christian County, Kentucky locations and enjoy the roasted flavor of a hot cup of warmth and love. Lasaters, where you aren’t just served; you’re loved. You will hear coaches say this over and over the longer you are around the game. You can teach hand position, feet, technique, punch, pad level, sink, but you can't teach 6'6," 310-pounds. That is God-given. Well Gavin Carwile, from St. Xavier High and entering his sophomore season, seems to have it all...the God-given and the earned skills which come from tireless effort and perpetual skills and technical effort and work. Enjoy this look at an OL of whom you might not have yet heard but one with the frame, skill, and technique to finish out among the more recruited players in the '29 graduating class in the KHSAA. You're welcome... Friday Night Fletch

Today we break down the 5A classification. Lots of people are going to pick Owensboro (Senior) and with good reason. They won it a year ago and, but for the loss of Evan Hampton, have a ton of talent returning. Of course, losing "Mr. Football" is kind of a big loss. We like Scott County. The Cardinals look to us to have it all. They have a lot of skills coming back, are very strong in the run game, and have one of the better athletes across the board playing in the KHSAA game today. They also have an amazing coaching staff loaded up with Hall of Fame types. Woodford County, Atherton, and Bowling Green will be heard from too and Pulaski and South Laurel better be watched. It is part of our yearly ritual. Every year, between the end of "Dead Period" and the beginning of the season, we run down the six (6) Kentucky classifications and forecast, for you, the best teams from top down. We have done similarly this year. Now, if you have read us for any period of time, we don't just publish lists. Anyone can do that. What makes "KPGFootball" the industry standard in football is our analysis. We don't just tell you who; but, we tell you why. Enjoy the article. The season is right around the corner. Therefore, we will take the next six or so days to highlight for your the top teams in each classification of play throughout the KHSAA. Today, with a special thanks to our friends at Big Ass Fans, we look at the 1A classification.
