Coalcliff, between Sydney and Wollongong was my favourite ocean pool at dusk this year.
Tucked out of the way and slightly difficult to access means it's much less busy than it would otherwise be.
I love this light.

COALCLIFF, 59km from Central, is a basic station serving a collection of houses and a small beach. It has two platforms, an uncovered footbridge and no lifts. The station building is uninspiring, with an unused ticket office. Passengers must walk through a weird corridor to get to the platform (1/2)

If you’re in the mood for a rucksack story: I bought a nice 2nd hand one & used it around Sydney. Those days, I busked in Kings Cross till near dawn, and often stayed w/ friends or just crashed in a park after (no trains to get back home to Coalcliff), so I had like a blanket and stuff.

Booked a car to take my travel buddy into the Royal National Park. Turns out most of the side roads were closed, so instead of picnicking and gentle walks (Australian), we ate lunch at Coalcliff beach

Yeah, not sure. Often it's industry that doesn't exist anymore, like Coalcliff. Wikipedia says it was popular for tourists but you'd think being 1km south closer to the accessible beaches would be better. Or it could be for a town that never got built.

Bunch of nice ocean pools down there. I've only swum in the Coalcliff one.
