Anyway. Here's a #painting "Cobh VI" was painted probably because I'd already painted five other pictures of the Cork harbour town. Oh and because I love squares and rectangles, and attaching mesh to a painting was great for texture and for the challenge. #SpéirGhorm #ArtYear #Scape
Landscape format in acrylics on board with mesh tape attached where buildings are painted. Front view of four streets on a hill, one above the other in a general rainbow impact of yellows, reds, blues, whites, oranges, and pinks set into the olive green of the hill. The lower 3 streets are horizontal bands and the highest one slopes up from left to right. Bottom street is terrace of white 3-story houses with spots of yellow breaking through from under the mesh. The top story of each house is dormer windows set into the roofs which, all joined together, are dark blue and brown with narrow white chimneys. The terrace is truncated at the right edge and finishes close to the left edge. In front of it along the bottom of the painting is blue strip of water with rippling dark reflections of the windows. Just above and behind the white terrace is the 2nd lowest street, a multi-coloured terrace of 3 and 4 story narrow buildings with street level shop fronts which are mostly of different colours to their upper stories. Top 2 streets are each a multi-coloured terrace of about 20 narrow residential buildings, each 2 window bays wide. Distinct from each other at differing heights, roofs are of slate rendered in dark blues, alizarin and browns. Between streets is light green of grass banks or bushes. Stand alone teal 2-storey house sits on top just left of centre with line of full foliage trees behind. Stand alone large 2-storey white house is at top on right at end of highest street. The small amount of sky visible above the tree line at the top of the hill is pale aqua. Signed bottom left in red, Liam Daly
