One or two nice finds from North Denes Beach, Great Yarmouth. Early Colletes (Colletes cunicularius), Marram Grass Chelifer (Dactylochelifer latrellii), A very tiny hieroglyphic type fungus on Rosebay Willow Herb (Morenoina epilobi) & (24 Spot Ladybird (Cocinella vigintiquattuorpunctata)

Kijk nou! Een Bijenwolf*. Nog nooit gezien!! Zat een vliegje te verorberen.

* bijenkever of bijenwolf (Trichodes apiarius)
** niet in #mijntuin maar in Frankrijk
*** en er zit nóg een prachtig kevertje op 1 van de bloembladeren linksboven. Cocinella?

Given the differences in colouration, these are probably harlequin ladybirds (Harmonia axyridis). They’re invasive here, and I think I’m seeing them more often than the regular cocinella species these days.

Some arthropods I've encountered at work this week

7-spot ladybirds (cocinella Septumpunctata) seems to be doing particularly well this year!

My little garden seems to have dozens of them but unusually very few harlequins (Harmonia axyridis).

I know the conditions have been good this year but I’m surprised it seems to have favoured 1 species 🐞 🌱

I’m finding them pretty regularly hanging out with the wasps and blackbirds on my pear tree.

This pair look as though they are sheltering, but some others, if I didn’t read that they are carnivores, I’d think they were having a sugary snack.
