A good chunk of the WH40k fandom are basically peasants repeating superstitions and gossip they got from the local priest (loretuber) who supplements the one or two codices and books he's read with material pulled from other loretubers. See: the deep warp
Nothing astounds me more than how willing so many 40k fans are to be confidently wrong about 40k lore, or to write fanfiction in their own head and then buy it so much they try to pass it off as actual lore.

Speaking of codices, I’m the book Gandalf refers to Isildur’s testimony about the Ring being written on a scroll, which means the shift from scrolls to codices took place sometime during the third age of Middle-earth.
“Did you really expect them to create a hand-bound codex for this one scene” a girl can dream.

Speaking of codices, I’m the book Gandalf refers to Isildur’s testimony about the Ring being written on a scroll, which means the shift from scrolls to codices took place sometime during the third age of Middle-earth.
This is my favorite thing I've seen in ages, and also it is precisely my daily life with a 6-year-old lair companion named Grimoire, and a whole bunch of facsimile codices on the shelves.
