I've found another! Centre Court at 126 Colinton Road, Craiglockhart. Demolished a few years ago. Not, however, an original pub building but converted from a pub and garage.

Edinburgh has embarked on a grand status quo preservation, not adding bike lanes (Colinton Rd still with zero metres along its 4km), not banning cars from anywhere (rolling back LTNs), allowing parking everywhere (bus lanes still not enforced) and parents still fear for their children’s lives.
“Paris has embarked on a grand transformation, planting 155k trees, adding hundreds of kms of bike lanes, pedestrianising 300 school streets and banning cars from the banks of the Seine. Parking has been turned into green space…Fewer parents fear their child being run over when they walk to school.”
How Paris swapped cars for bikes – and transformed its streets
Under Anne Hidalgo – mayor for 12 years until last week – the French capital added bike lanes, cut traffic and reclaimed public space, but not without resistance

The Department for Work and Pensions and the local MP, Dr Scott Arthur, are holding a Jobs Fair next week, hoping to help people looking for work. The Community Job Fair in Edinburgh South West will take place at St John's Colinton Mains Church on 5 November from 1pm to 4pm. At the event employers, training providers and support organisations will come together under one roof. The first hour and a half of the event, from 1pm to 2.30pm, will be open to everyone seeking employment opportunities, career advice, training, or a change in career direction.

Cat plants cute self at front door, barrier-style.

Human: I swear I only leave the flat to earn money to buy you things. And I won’t be late back.

Cat gives me her best disdainful look.

Nevertheless I am on a bus heading for deepest, darkest Colinton.

Argh. So infuriating! I stay on Ashley Terrace when I am visiting and the increase in traffic in the last few years plus the closure of Harrison Road 🤯 - last week with the resurfacing on Polwarth Terr and works on Colinton Rd 🤯🤯🤯 ... ghastly.

I think the Rustic Cottages stop is just before Colinton village (rather than Swanston) and there are lots of great walks in and around the village (which also has RLS connections) and along the Water of Leith.

Flow depths overnight in the Water of Leith at Colinton peaked at 0.63m... well below the 1.46m high of 2022.

Edinburgh care home residents team up with local school for board game tournament
Residents of an Edinburgh care home have teamed up with local primary school children for a traditional board game tournament. The intergenerational event took place at Cairdean House on Redford Road in Colinton, bringing older people and pupils together for an afternoon of friendly competition. Pupils from Colinton Primary School visited the facility to compete against the residents in classic games such as dominoes and snakes and ladders. The schoolchildren ultimately proved victorious, accumulating the most points throughout the afternoon to take home the crown. The gathering was organised as part of a wider national…

This feels like what the Colinton Rd cycleway could be.

A route from the burbs, near the ring road, to the centre of the city. Providing a vital link for commuters, students and more.

@edinburghcouncil.bsky.social @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social any thoughts?
What's not to love about more children cycling to school?

Thanks to recent improvements, Chorlton Cycleway is helping make that happen. It's just one example from our Route Forward report, showing how better cycling routes are transforming communities.

A bridge too far for Jacob in “Sad-inia”
Jacob Fearnley can go into this week's European Open tennis tournament with extra confidence despite losing out in his attempt to land a sixth Challenger tour title in a Sardinian final. Former Colinton junior Fearnley went down 6-7, 3-6 to Damir Drumzur (Bosnia-Hergovina) but with statistics suggesting an overall improvement in his game. Notably, Fearnley again curbed the tendency to avoid giving away cheap points with double faults and his tally of two overall in the final was one less than his opponent. Also this was achieved by keeping his ratio of points won on second serve at a decent 69 per cent.
