Pietra ollare is a grey green soapstone mined in Italy's Valtellina valley since the Bronze Age. Turned on a water-powered lathe, these cooking pots (laveggi) are said to neutralise poisons in food and not taint flavour, unlike pots made of copper or brass. Donated in 1928.
