My father, 86, tells me that when growing up in Derry people used wear an oak leaf #otd 9 June in honour of St. Colmcille (Columba) whose feast day it is. Derry, or Doire in Irish, means a place of oaks. (Pilgrim badge 14/16th century in form of an oak leaf, British Museum)

It’s St Brigid’s Day. She’s buried about 10 mins away from here in Downpatrick alongside Saint Patrick and Saint Colmcille. In the same grave like some pietistical throuple.
