Rewatched Voltes V, and holy shit, that was so much better than I remembered. I first watched it about a decade back, and it didn't impress me, especially right after Combattler V. This revisit gave me a new perspective; I think it's one of my favourite 70s anime now.

Same, since it was cited as a main inspiration for Evangelion (along with Combattler and Voltes). Sadly, no subs. No nothing. I've found the raws, if you'd like to watch those? No translation available, though.

Yup, my Dancouga is the Godaikin release, because of COURSE I, Relena "Fucking Dancouga" Warcraft, would own one.
I also have the Godaikin Combattler V and Abega, the core unit of Almost-Voltron.

Half-way into the final episode and I can already tell you it has a better ending than Combattler AND Daimos! Turns out if you DON'T kill off your rival character in the middle of the story to replace him with a generic villain you get to have a more dramatic showdown later! Wow!

🐰🐱Even Combattler V, notoriously the least political of the Robot Romance Trilogy, had political themes? lt slams nationalism as misguided at best and actively counterproductive to solving humanity's shared problems multiple times, for one? o.o

Tadao Nagahama is who I would probably credit the most for fleshing out the palette depth of what mecha protagonists and especially antagonists could be though it also did take him a few tries to calibrate. His ambition expanded greatly from Raideen and Combattler to Voltes and Daimos.

Kinda looks like, "What if Combattler V and Mazinkaiser had a kid, and that kid wore a denim jacket and played the trombone." I absolutely love it.

What happened to Moozzi2, the encoder for animes in higher quality?
Moozzi2 is no longer doing anymore encodes and he lost his rights to bring more classic anime rips such as Grendizer and Combattler V. For a lot of reasons, there's a been a drama going on with Moozzi.

So apparently this came out after Combattler V and Voltes V, and this shares the majority of cast, animation and creator... Interesting.

like 9 out 10 times the combattler gang will yell "scrander missile" or some other random name knowing damn well that it wont even damage the paint job. voltes team is also guilty of this to a lesser degree.

Real question is if this will be the most disgusting thing said by a public figure this week, or will it be topped?

Someone posted the Juzo Combattler V clip on Twitter and it blew up like crazy so I feel like this is eternally relevant.
the reaction to this clip everytime it gets posted proves you should let these old shows speak for themselves when it comes to selling them to people.

At least until the Anniversary DLC, where he got a new lines against Godzilla (and some for a new combo attack with Combattler V), and amazingly Akira Kamiya still sounds pretty good.
