#CommonFleabane, this stalwart of damp places, was clearly showing effects of a 6-week drought today, but unlike us humans who moan about hose bans, it was adapting by reducing size of its flower discs & going to seed early while still providing nectar 4 insects.

Lovely to see the #Goldenrod taking its place among the still nectar-feeding stalwarts like #Creepingthistle, #CommonFleabane, #Blackknapweed & #Tansy in the still bone-dry #chalkgrassland today. Lots of #Smallcopper, #CommonBlue, #MeadowBrown & #SmallWhite on the wing.
