People that put down lesbians/ women for liking yaoi and being "male-centered" confuses me. sapphics get invalidated enough from people outside the community, and now supposed "allies" and friends are doing it too? Trashing women for what fictional blorbos they wanna see kiss isn't activism, sorry.

Minimizing the impact of consistent episodic community-centered protests only serves the interests of the ruling elite and undermines efforts to build political pressure (even and maybe esp. on elected Democrats) AND political cover.

This year I returned to this Black, modernist enclave in Chatham to write about the late Jolyn Robichaux. After the death of her husband, she took over Baldwin Ice Cream, transforming that venerable, small operation into a major corporation, all the while keeping her community centered.

Toronto just launched it's non-police crisis response service city wide. it's our 4th 911 service, and it provides support for people experiencing mental health emergencies using a consent-based, client-centered, community lead model, without involving police
