It's ridiculous that yuri isn't allowed to tell certain stories because of past hangups. You can't have an ambiguous ending because 3 years ago, Bandai said "It's up to interpretation." You can't tell a story that deals with comphet or bisexuality because people are still mad about Hibike Euphonium

And I hope they do, because that ending doesn't really work for me otherwise, I think. Show that can't seem to decide which side of the coin it wants to come down on, lesbian love or anti-comphet, so it ends up splitting the difference as yuribait. Really awkward

I think a lot of it stems from the heterocentric/comphet, patriarchal culture a lot of these folks are raised in. The gay spaces are like a safe space, and any "blurring of the lines" can be seen as "pandering" to the dominating cultural biases.
That's my take on it at least.

I really love the concept of artificial genetic changes a lot, but find it extremely depressing who would likely be leading an artifical genetic changes program in todays world. People who want a comphet binary no-trans society is really bad tastes in transhumanism imo.

i think comphet is a fair read of lara's relationship with luca but i really wish people would stop being kind of biphobic about it. it's also possible she just didn't feel a spark with him specifically and the chance she's bi doesn't make the series less yuri. bi women aren't less yuri.
