my toxic take is that 'ai' was never a very suitable term for the video game kind of 'ai' anyway and it always had a weird collision with 'ai' as a comsci field and we should call it something else like 'agent design' instead

I had this attitude too and briefly regretted not going into a serious comsci college program, but that field cratered anyway. Who the fuck knows, man
People did warn me when I was younger to pursue high-paying fields, and I always shrugged them off. I thought, “I’m not a materialistic person, I don’t want to live in luxury—I’ll be fine making a modest salary. Money’s not important to me.”
