#conflation
Hasan Piker is saying that the conflation of Jews with Israel is putting Jews at risk.

That is in inarguable fact.

Both Israel's cheerleaders and antisemites are promoting this conflation.

Rather than demonise Piker for stating the truth - oppose this dangerous conflation.

Someday, someone will write about how the conflation of university speech with “censorship” was used to mobilize actual government censorship.
When Stanford IT staff and a pro-diversity group shared a list of words they encouraged others not to use, it was national news, despite the fact it never represented campus policy.
When the government erases any mention, data or research related to words, will it be treated as a free speech issue?

I do not like the conflation of the Jewish people and the Jewish State here.
Greenblatt: "We're seeing Jewish people, the Jewish state, blamed for the war. It is wrong to scapegoat & hold Jewish people accountable for something you don't like on other side of the planet. We really need leaders on all sides in politics, running for office, podcasters, to stop w/ conspiracies"

Lots of conflation of “I can’t understand” with “Nobody can understand”

There's a recurring tangent about how the film's protagonist is a conflation of three different guys, all of them much weirder than the end product of that conflation.

The conflation of politician and journalist remains once of Fox News signature accomplishments.
There’s also, as Perry points out, the “we” problem.

I’m a journalist, not a politician. I plan to continue pointing out that the entire conservative movement is obsessed with phantom problems and conspiracy theories. I think this is an extremely salient fact that voters should know.

her conflation of social justice language is pure evil
EXCLUSIVE:

"People are like, 'You have a platform. Use it,' and then once you use it, it's like, 'Go back to playing basketball.'”

"We can be a great example of how to do both."

The conflation of strongly held policy views and strongly held values is very annoying!
it's really interesting to see the rest of the paragraph that matty named his blog after, considering his metapolitical views these days

SPEAKING OF SAID CONFLATION

interesting to read this because there is an unexamined — and i'd say unhelpful — conflation of partisanship, ideology and affect here

An age old conflation of homosexuality with child sex abuse.

More generally I think the aggressive conflation of criticism with harassment, and then of harassment with violent threats, is pretty irresponsible to be engaging in. I think whining about lack of resources when you haven't even *acknowledged* problems users care about it pretty pathetic.

The idea that Kirk promoted free speech is just totally detached from reality. He promoted hate speech, and the conflation of the two is why there is so much violence.

The confusion and conflation of ‘generative ai that is built on stolen artwork’ and ‘machine learning, character behaviour modelling and proc gen’ is intentional on the part of the grifters peddling the former. They benefit from murkiness of classification, because the latter predates their bollocks

The steady deterioration of First Amendment rights and the conflation of violence with dissent is a result not just of an authoritarian regime but of a press culture that is feckless at best and authoritarian-fluffers at worst. The New York Times is beyond redemption.
The killings of two Israeli Embassy workers in Washington on Wednesday cast a harsh spotlight on the pro-Palestinian movement in the U.S. and the impact even peaceful protests might be having on attitudes against people connected to Israel.

Israel and its crimes - and the conflation with Jewish people - is driving antisemitism.

That is just an obvious, straightforward fact.
