Conglation=conflation+conglomerate
This is not what slop refers to. I'm not being purely academic about this. The conflation does matter. Because this is a type of conglation that people do to make any reasonable critique of "A.I." seem overwrought. "Oh they said the same thing about the internet!" And it is not true.
I'm in my early 40s and I definitely remember Wikipedia being treated *as the equivalent* of slop (i.e., untrustworthy) in my final high school/early college years.
It took a couple of years to go from "don't use Wikipedia anyone can put anything there" to "use Wikipedia as a first step."
