There's a parallel for this in the early firearms industry, which produced novelty weapons for wealthy clients but was mainly hoping to sell them large consignments of military-grade guns
Seeing a lot of sneering at this, so a reminder that this "robot Olympics" isn't about running faster than Usain Bolt. It's a clever PR exercise for the Chinese robotics industry, to show off just how incredibly cool these things really are. The kind of tasks they're doing in this show are ...
A Chinese humanoid robot outran Usain Bolt’s 100-meter sprint world record on the opening day of the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, posting a time of 9.39 seconds — 0.19 faster than Bolt’s pace in 2009.

Fill a glass with poison and 99 glasses with water. Tip those 100 glasses into a bucket. Hey presto the whole bucket becomes tainted.

That's the problem facing hauliers: lots of trucks carry consignments belonging to multiple firms.

ONE set of paperwork incorrect = EVERYTHING delayed.

Brexit, eh?

Why does this matter? Because the UK art market - the largest in Europe - has been losing out. In 2020 France accounted for 7% of the European Old Master market; in 2024 it was 17%. Consignments - and jobs - are moving to Paris.
