Consumers with RAM

I think my new position is that large corporations need to be forced to respect consumers more and small businesses need to respect them less
It’s too much to screenshot but there’s a huge kerfluffle on Threads right now where a woman is mad that a Portland otaku cafe made her unlabeled agoraphobia service dog go outside so she demanded two weeks of that employee’s pay. The owner made the whole staff do ADA training and told the woman…

Billionaires rely on consumers, if consumers are burdened by debt they don’t consume, therefore billionaires should expend their wealth to pay consumers debt, medical, educational primarily, freeing consumers to consume. They would still be disgustingly wealthy, but would’ve invested in others.

yep, they literally had to reassure consumers that there *were* gatekeepers
one, absolutely

two, thinking about how the seal was part of Nintendo's broad strategy to get the NES to sell in a skeptical, post-crash market in the 80s, which was partially caused by a content glut
People may joke but this might be where this all ends up: on the industry recreating old forms of gatekeeping so that social proof and webs of trust can be used to stem the tide of low-effort slop, effectively undoing what digital distribution did in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Nvidia intentionally crippled their $1,000 graphics cards so average consumers couldn’t use its full computing power. Why? Because they sell the exact same chip to big tech companies for $7,000+.

Also need national legislation to allow direct car sales from manufacturers to consumers. No more middlemen dealers who add costs to consumers and are a backbone of Republican donations.

Elon Musk wrote a lot of words when "I fear a change in leadership in DC will (1) make it harder for me to get *another* $38,000,000,000 in corporate welfare from the government; and (2) that more regulations will be created to protect consumers from my dangerous products" would suffice.

Put another way, I’d rather someone read DCC than something Malcolm Gladwell shat out for the airport newsstand consumers

I dislike ‘conservatives are fundamentally incapable of creating good art’ because it’s obviously untrue but the trumpist new right is def incapable of making good art because their political identity is primarily forumlated around being consumers, and consumers, definitionally, cannot make art
The conservative movement is so culturally desolate that it hasn't produced a great thinker in almost a century, and has produced no great artists or writers for an even longer period. There's simply no need to engage with their thought, because it's all base ressentiment
A fun thing about the far-right trying to dig up cultural artefacts almost weekly over the past few months (it's the SW prequels now) is that they're desperately trying to find anything whatsoever that might resonate more broadly--because the movement is completely dead with no momentum.

He suggests any device launching at more than $1,000 would essentially be dead on arrival.
