Swedish epidemic 26 June: 944 new cases today. Growth of new cases still positive but slowing down. However, some regions (e.g. Norrbotten) are in a bad way.

Swedish epidemic 2 July: number of new cases continues to grow at zero percent, despite an expected 12% growth in testing vs. last week. Testing appears to be working. 947 new cases today.

The pandemic could grow into many times its current size across the countries in Asia and Africa, if infections rise e.g. to the current level seen in South America. Here the measure is daily new infections per 1m people.

So now Sweden has altered its course. Intense testing is likely to be next. Rough estimate: 4.7x Norway's intensity if it starts tomorrow, assuming Korea and Norway data can be used.

The Norwegians waited longer than the Koreans, until there were 184 infected per 1m people. To compensate, they had to spend 6x more on testing. That's why the red line goes up so much.

South Korea was able to stop the epidemic's acceleration by heavy testing. They did not need to raise testing that much, because they acted early on. That's why the yellow line does not rise that much.

Testing is a critical method to slow and stop the epidemic. Norway was able - in March - to stop its acceleration by growing its testing effort 22x. I'll explain.
