La hija de un amigo está en tratamiento porque padece cosmeticorexia, algo de lo que nunca había oído hablar y que me dejó totalmente descolocado. Es necesario proteger a los menores de las redes sociales. También a unos cuantos adultos, pero esos ya no sé si tienen remedio.

The disturbing part isn't skincare. It's how girls are trained from childhood to see their appearance as something to fix, measured against filtered and AI images that aren't real. The goalposts are imaginary.

This article is really worrying. I worry for children feeling they need to use skin care products and makeup. In my day it was lip gloss and a flannel. This must cause anxiety for many.

Learnt a new word. Cosmeticorexia: a modern culturally reinforced preoccupation for using make-up that leads to the excessive, age-inappropriate, compulsive use of cosmetics. The critical thing here is the age-inappropriate part...with kids as young as 8 suffering from it.
