something that makes me scream inside is how many times I see newbie baby cosplayers trying to make helmet wigs for *everything* because they saw helmet wigs on TikTok so now they’re on r/cosplayhelp asking how to make a helmet wig for a bob cut and I’m trying to convince them that it’s pointless

it’s particularly a plague in English language short videos… come on man, your brief instructions could at least say “heat it and hold the wave until it cools to set” or whatever

Hey Cosplayers!
I'm going to a con at the end of August and I intend to go as Cortana, but it's gonna be hot out! What's some advice you have for maintaining the Blue face/body paint, OR for being out in a body suit?

fwiw I’m on r/cosplayhelp a lot because Reddit has INSANE SEO. Anyone who’s googling it before hopping on TikTok is likely to find old Reddit threads and if you’ve linked a good resource, that’s a good resource PRESERVED. You’re investing in the future of cosplayers by answering inane questions.

How would you tackle Satori's color changing markings? Especially if you planned to compete with the costume?
I had a plan but I'm curious.

it feels SO GOOD when I see a stranger online with a cosplay issue and I know the exact way to help them 😭 I spend a lot of time in the abyss of r/cosplayhelp because everyone has to start somewhere and there aren’t many places for newbies to ask questions that aren’t discord servers anymore

Oh, you size it to your chest and hips, then take in the waist!
This post has a comment telling you how you might go about that! N-not that I was looking for myself or anything.

PLEASE make the basic tutorials!
1) crafting has been hit so bad by link rot
2) it’s always worth having more of the same technique because sometimes only one of the tutorials will make it “click” for someone
3) even if you think it’s basic, let me tell you how much the r/cosplayhelp mines are this
