I followed fox tracks up the hill. At one point the fox jumped to the side of the track, where it caught a rodent. It then sat and ate the rodent. This counryside drama could all be interpreted from the marks in the snow. From my book A Wealth of Wildlife, a Year on a Highland Perthshire estate.

People go on about the English counryside, its just fucking plain fields sometimes with a few sheep in for miles, some hedges, nothing there!
