#counternarcotics
It's not a "counternarcotics campaign." It's a murder spree.
Breaking news: U.S. forces killed two people allegedly hauling illicit drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean off the coast of South America, officials said, marking an expansion of the Trump administration’s deadly counternarcotics campaign.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the strike but, consistent with others, declined to identify the victims or offer evidence verifying they were hauling narcotics.

We’ve been saying this for a while now many of the people being targeted are just fishermen. Evidence now supports that the United States has killed individuals who were not involved in drug trafficking during its “counternarcotics interdiction operations” in the Caribbean and Pacific.

A carrier group in the Caribbean. Twenty strikes. Zero oversight.
That’s not counternarcotics. That’s a slow-motion war rehearsal.👇

US forces close to Venezuela. Counternarcotics? That’s a lot for the odd fishing boat.

Disguising the largest military buildup in decades off Venezuela as a "counternarcotics" mission doesn't hide the truth: The Trump administration is manufacturing a new Forever War. #NoDepartmentOfForeverWar

This is why Trump’s escalation against Venezuela is being sold as a counternarcotics, not regime change operation. FWIW the 1989 invasion of Panama that toppled Noriega was sold as a counternarcotics operation too.

The December 2009 assassination of Honduran counternarcotics czar Gral. Julián Arístides González Irías (ret.) was planned and executed by the Honduran National Police to protect a cocaine pipeline to the U.S. and a sprawling international web of corruption.

Marketed as counternarcotics and counterterrorism.

Both bogus narratives.
Trump knows regime change wars are unpopular so he has sold it as a counternarcotics operation, figuring that executing people on boats he alleges are narco terrorists is popular with the US public. Only 27% approve.

U.S. troops have operated in Ecuador before through training and counternarcotics cooperation, but direct combat operations would mark a major escalation. Labeling criminal networks “terrorist organizations” can expand executive war powers without a new AUMF. Congress should be asking hard questions

5/ THE PERSONAL SANCTION.

Colombia, Sept-Oct 2025.

Not a country. A family. The U.S. revoked President Petro's visa, decertified Colombia on counternarcotics for the first time since 1997, then sanctioned Petro, his wife, his son, and his interior minister. Weeks later, Trump's candidate won.

It was never about counternarcotics and had everything to do with normalizing Trump’s power to smite people at will.
