Of course nothing can match our Cairo 2012-2013 Halloweens, with people dressed as the Deep State, the Counterrevolution, State Security, and Nationalist Tantes.

It will override it legally and phillosophically, but just lead to a shitshow of violence. They will NOT go quietly into the night. All those newly elected will be powerless* for two months watching it all burn down.

*Unless there is a secret resistance organization for counterrevolution.

If TERFism is the feminist counterrevolution, this phenom is part and parcel with that notion

Of course, this isn’t a new phenomenon because boy bands have been around for decades

But as I said with drag the other day, the “revolutionary” aspect of this m4m lusting has run its course

If Bolsonarismo represents a revolution against the constitutional order established in 1988, the only viable response is a democratic counterrevolution: not to restore the old order, but to reinvent it.

there's a quote out there somewhere about how communists jealously guard power like capitalists do, but to avoid counterrevolution. wish i could find it
"mbappe calling mao a dictator reveals how tight china's censorship is!" yeah i wonder why china wouldn't like a guy calling the guy who led resistance against japanese occupiers and improved women's rights (among other things) a dictator

It's called surveillance capitalism.
Its developmental thrust is revealed as an epistemic counterrevolution, an antidemocratic coup that aims for knowledge dominance and strikes at the essence of
democratic viability."

We can call it Ai fascism.

Incisive analysis of ethical counterrevolution as the egoistic individualism of neoliberalism and its money grubbing bastards overturn Judaeo/Christian and Enlightenment morality. Much of this whilst clinging to the mantle of Christianity.

Colombia's government sparks backlash with museum art purge
Colombia's new president vows a "cultural counterrevolution" against wokeness, and his removal of 47 artworks from a national museum is sparking protests and fears of government censorship.

Ironically, given his whining about class warfare, his critical approach is very Stalinist: All art must serve the revolution.

Or, in his case, the chauvinist counterrevolution.

“Years ago, "working with" and attempting to influence union leadership may have been judicious, but the government has long since infiltrated and bought off this leadership and legislated away the strike. Union-hall speeches and pamphlet passing are playing at revolution.” -George Jackson

I'd argue we're living through Redemption 2.0, not Reconstruction 2.0. Reconstruction expanded Black citizenship and political power. Redemption was the organized white supremacist counterrevolution that dismantled those gains. What we're witnessing looks more like retrenchment than reconstruction.

this way, even when a country can move towards democracy, the 'independent judiciary' can maintain austerity long enough for another US backed coup or counterrevolution to take hold.

Andrew Johnson would like a word. White supremacists didn't simply crawl under rocks after Appomattox. Johnson pardoned former Confederates, restored their political power, and obstructed Black civil rights. The KKK was only one part of the counterrevolution.

The American revolution is interesting because in some sense it's a counterrevolution. The main reason everything went as smoothly as it did was the main thing everyone wanted was "preserve the self-governing status quo" and they only really moved to break away from Britain when given no choice
