Police can no longer be trusted. Invest more thoughtfully in your City Planning Department instead, with a focus on implementing a robust plan for Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED), alongside expanding social services. These two things would reduce crime way more than police.

As a disciple of Mike Davis, I see this as Hostile Architecture, Defensible Space (see Oscar Newman), and CPTED: agreeing with others on this thread.

½ On April 7, OCH CEO StephaneOCH_LCO met with @AlgonquinCollege Police Foundations students to hear their CPTED findings. We greatly appreciated their visit to Foster Farm in March and their thoughtful recommendations.

CPTED is only half the story because you also want people - especially women and girls - to feel safe and too much CCTV can be a negative for that. Also in the wrong hands it tends to involve designing out teenagers…
