what a great opportunity to remind people that comicfury & cartoonists united exist, that comic artists are still thriving outside the app-ified ecosystem, and that everyone should make compilation PDFs so their comics don't depend on platforms that do not respect creators OR readers. #creator_txt

"but then how-" it always, ALWAYS starts with being a genuine fan of other peoples' work and showing that support without expectations. "now where should i post my work :(" where do YOU go to read? when was the last time you DID instead of only wanting to reap an illusion of benefits? #creator_txt

re: tapas, i met my now wife there back when the place was still called tapastic. all indie work. i had the nicest, most curious readers imaginable. i don't think a single one of them stayed throughout the rebrand because it became so *hostile* to the stories they WANTED to read (cont.) #creator_txt

i know these readers are out there and as curious as ever; i keep in touch with many. niche creators will never find peace if they only go for platforms boasting big built-in audience numbers and expecting THAT to just do the work for them while lamenting how shitty the audience is. #creator_txt

this fucking sucks for employees and creators who've built a significant portion of their income from years of work over there. newer creators need to calm down and relearn webcomics + online communities in general. any real opportunities largely ended years ago. keep making comics ffs. #creator_txt

semi-related, authors also need to relearn some things because the cycle of complaining about booktok kids who don't read or whatever, while actively marketing in a way that encourages this type of consumption, is bad! for all of us! stop pushing away the types of readers you WANT! #creator_txt
