By sending Witkoff to Moscow, Trump hopes that Putin will provide him with an excuse to delay sanctions further. It should be Moscow sending an envoy to Washington, not opposite. This is hugely embarrassing for the US. They lose all credability as a partner in the attempts of stopping this war.

Pretty sure Trump doesn't give discounts, and he says all the money goes into the general treasury, but once you're caught stealing from a charity for kids with cancer, you're credability kind of takes a hit.

I do think the most insane thing is that Fauci did do a meh-to-bad job... but because he *underreacted* and that created a ton of room for assholes to undermine his and the CDC's credability and we're never going to really deal with the fact that our response then and now to COVID had actual issues.
New, from me: It is fine to disagree with aspects of the pandemic response. But what we saw at Fauci's hearing was something different: a show trial where cranks tried to threaten and shift blame to an public servant.

I do think the most insane thing is that Fauci did do a meh-to-bad job... but because he *underreacted* and that created a ton of room for assholes to undermine his and the CDC's credability and we're never going to really deal with the fact that our response then and now to COVID had actual issues.
