Hill 6. Don’t use cricoid pressure. It has no effect on post-intubation respiratory failure (a far more useful measure than ‘regurgitation’) and makes intubation harder.

Cricoid pressure until they're back on the ward. Burden on proof is on the doubters to prove it doesn't reduce aspiration.

Surely if you think cricoid pressure works therapeutically to stop/reduce regurgitation when it occurs, you should be using it to exploit this efficacy to prevent regurg.
Conversely if you don’t use cricoid prophylactically bc you don’t think it works, why would you apply it if regurg occurs?

Do people question why they are doing cricoid pressure?
I still think the most useful part of RSI is cricoid. Whatever doubts re its efficacy in preventing reflux, it does prevent gastric insufflation w PPV.
