The anticipatory obedience continues. The lists to change Lake Ontario to Lake America were both just published (subjects: classweb.org/tentative-su... and classification: classweb.org/tentative/26...) with a note it's not open for public comment. #critcat #lcsh

Call for volunteers to ALA SAC Local Authorities Working Group! #critlib #critcat
In response to the recent LCSH changes to Gulf of Mexico and Denali, there is increased interest in promoting awareness and providing information on how to change display names and/or create local authority records.

At some point, perhaps sooner than we think, we will have to decide whether we will continue to accept changes from LCSH/LCNAF to our catalogue, and start doing it ourselves or relying on other vocabularies. #critcat thoughts

"Critcatenate is an effort to keep folks up to date on critcat efforts with a monthly-ish roundup of news. Critcat is short for critical cataloging, focusing on the ethical implications of library metadata, cataloging, and classification practice, standards, and infrastructure."

we migrated to alma/primo (barf) and are forced to use consortia records, which means we have to use outdated subject headings and can't use our own 69X local fields. has anyone else dealt with this and found a workaround, or a way to advocate for change? #critcat
