Roanoke is my favorite mystery because the historical record is actually pretty clear IMO there's just four centuries of racist white guys dismissing the "they moved in and integrated with the croatan tribe" evidence out of hand because it isn't white supremacy enough for them

I’ve seen Red-cockaded Woodpeckers in two different states, in Lewis Ocean Bay Preserve in South Carolina and in Croatan National Forest in North Carolina.
Both forest are burning with wildfires right now.
