A landscape originated image looking along cromford canal in Derbyshire. The canal wends in from the left, though it fills the entire bottom of the frame. The tow path curves in with it on the left, grassy at the water edge with large oak trees. A variety of shrubs and smaller trees line the canal on the right, overhanging it. The water curves out of sight mid image, foliage filling the top. All is green and yell, even the water as it reflects everything around it.

Looking along Cromford canal with Aquaduct Cottage across the water from me, gently reflecting. Ahead of me is the tow path, just as it passes in front of the cottage there is a bridge that that leads over to it. Running your eyes along the tow path as far as you can see it you will land on a tall chimney, this belongs to the old Pump House. A little information about the canal and the cottage: Cromford Canal is a historic 14.5-mile waterway in Derbyshire, built in 1794 by William Jessop and Benjamin Outram to serve industrial mills. Now a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Aqueduct Cottage is one of Derbyshire’s hidden gems. Located on the Cromford Canal, it was originally built as a “lengthman’s cottage” in 1802 by Peter Nightingale, Florence’s great uncle. Recently restored, with help from local volunteers, the charming cottage is now a visitor information centre for the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. A lengthman responsible for maintaining a specific, assigned length ocanal, ensuring it remains tidy, safe, and clear.

Had a lovely walk along the valley today. At various times we were within above the clouds of fog, but I did get my first view of #watervole for the first time on the #CromfordCanal in easily 10 years!
